Jamie Baulch

Jamie Baulch ( Jamie Steven Baulch ; born May 3, 1973 in Nottingham , England ) is a former Welsh athlete who was successful in the 400-meter run and with the British and Welsh 4-by-400-meter relay .

Sporting successes

Baulch was Junior World Champion in 1992 with the British 4 x 100 meter relay . In 1993 he won silver with the relay at the Junior European Championships.

At the 1996 Olympic Games in Atlanta , the British four-by-400-meter relay won silver in 2: 56.60 minutes behind the US relay. The season consisted of Iwan Thomas , Jamie Baulch, Mark Richardson and Roger Black . At the World Indoor Championships in Paris in 1997 , Baulch was second in 45.62 s behind the Nigerian Sunday Bada . In the summer of the World Championships in Athens , Baulch finished eighth in 45.22 s. The season in the cast Iwan Thomas, Roger Black, Jamie Baulch and Mark Richardson originally won silver in 2: 56.65 min behind the season from the USA and before the season from Jamaica. Because of the later doping disqualification of the American Antonio Pettigrew , the British relay was subsequently declared world champion.

In Budapest at the European Championships in 1998 , the season with the cast Mark Hylton , Jamie Baulch, Iwan Thomas and Mark Richardson won in 2: 58.68 minutes before the season from Poland. A month later at the 1998 Commonwealth Games in Kuala Lumpur, Baulch finished fourth over 400 meters in 45.30 s. Jamaica won the season finals ahead of England and Wales, with Paul Gray and Doug Turner running for Wales alongside Baulch and Thomas .

At the World Indoor Championships in Maebashi in 1999 , Baulch won in 45.73 s ahead of Milton Campbell from the USA and Alejandro Cárdenas from Mexico. The British relay with Baulch as the final runner won bronze behind the relay from the USA and Poland. In Seville at the 1999 World Championships , Baulch was again eighth in 45.18 s, the British relay could not qualify for the final. A year later at the Olympic Games in Sydney , the British relay with Baulch was sixth. The season also took this place at the 2001 World Championships in Edmonton .

The 2002 Commonwealth Games took place in Manchester at the end of July. In the season, Daniel Caines as the final runner of the English and Matthew Elias from Welsh fought a fight to the finish line. The English won in 3: 00.40 minutes ahead of the Welsh in 3: 00.41 minutes. The British relay for the European Championships in Munich was composed of two runners each from the English and Welsh relay. Eleven days after the Manchester final, Jared Deacon , Elias, Baulch and Caines won in 3: 01.25 minutes ahead of the Russian relay. In 2003, Jamie Baulch won his last international medals at the World Indoor Championships in Birmingham . Over 400 meters, he won bronze with the Irish Paul McKee in 45.99 seconds behind the American Tyree Washington and behind Daniel Caines. The British season with Baulch and Caines also won bronze behind the USA and Jamaica.
