John Regis ( John Paul Lyndon Regis ; born October 13, 1966 in Lewisham , Kent ) is a former British sprinter .

Life

John Regis is 1.81 m tall and weighed up to 94 kg during his playing days. With this massive stature, the muscular athlete was clearly recognizable to the audience at all times, even in confusing relay races. He celebrated his greatest successes over 100 and 200 meters . He also won medals in both the 4 x 100 meter relay and the 4 x 400 meter relay with the British and English teams. The English national soccer player Cyrille Regis is his cousin.

Regis is an athlete ambassador for the development aid organization Right to Play .
