Owe Jonsson (born November 23, 1940 in Växjö ; † September 29, 1962 between Växjö and Alvesta ) was a Swedish athlete .

In September 1962 the European Championships took place in Belgrade . After Owe Jonsson was eliminated in the preliminary run in the 100-meter run , he won the 200-meter preliminary run in 20.8 seconds on September 14 . He won his intermediate run in 21.0 seconds. In the final on September 16, two very experienced athletes, Jocelyn Delecour and Marian Foik , faced the young Italian Sergio Ottolina and Jonsson, the German Heinz Schumann and the British David Jonescompleted the final. Jonsson pulled away everyone on the home stretch and won with a new championship record of 20.7 seconds ahead of Foik and Ottolina in 20.8 seconds, Delecour was fourth in 21.0 seconds ahead of Jones.

13 days after his victory, Jonsson died in a car accident.
