Ramil Eldar oğlu Guliyev ( Azerbaijani Ramil Eldar oğlu Quliyev , also Russian Рамиль Гулиев / Ramil Gulijew; born May 29, 1990 in Baku ) is a Turkish athlete of Azerbaijani origin who specializes in sprinting .

Athletic career

Internationally, he made his first appearance when he won the silver medal in the 200-meter run at the 2007 World Youth Championships in Ostrava . At the Junior World Championships in 2008 in Bydgoszcz he was fifth over the same distance. He qualified for participation in the 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing , where he reached the quarter-finals over 200 meters.

At the European Indoor Championships in Turin in 2009 , he finished seventh in the 60-meter run . A few months later he won the gold medal in the 200-meter run at the Universiade in Belgrade in a personal best and a new national record of 20.04 seconds. Shortly afterwards he also won the gold medal over 200 meters ahead of the German Robert Hering and the silver medal in the 100-meter run at the Junior European Championships in Novi Sad . At the 2009 World Championships in Berlin , Quliyev was seventh in the 200-meter run.

Guliyev has been working for Turkey since the beginning of 2011.

In 2016 Guliyev won the silver medal at the European Championships in Amsterdam over 200 meters. At the 2017 World Championships in London , he won the gold medal in the 200 meter competition . At the European Championships in Berlin 2018, Guliyev was European champion over 200 meters. In 2019 he reached the 5th place at the World Championships in Doha.

Ramil Guliyev is 1.87 m tall and has a competition weight of 70 kg.
