final

August 12, 2018, 9:35 p.m. CEST

In the final there was only one line-up change in only one team:
Great Britain - Nethaneel Mitchell-Blake was replaced by Harry Aikines-Aryeetey

The British went into this final as the clear favorites. They were the reigning world champions , had won the last two European championship titles and were the fastest team in the heats. France, Turkey and the Netherlands were among the strongest competitors for Great Britain.

The race was still open until the second change. Churandy Martina had shown a strong performance as the second runner for the Netherlands, his team was at the front together with Turkey and Great Britain. At the last change, the British had already moved away a little at the top. The Netherlands followed ahead of the seasons from Turkey and France, which are now almost tied. The fastest final runner was the Turkish 200-meter European champion Ramil Guliyev, who even brought his team to second place. Great Britain, however, was no longer to be endangered. The Dutch won bronze. France was fourth, ahead of Ukraine and Finland.
