Bruno Marie-Rose

Bruno Marie-Rose (born May 20, 1965 in Bordeaux ) is a former French athlete and Olympian. With a height of 1.93 m, his competition weight was 87 kg. Marie-Rose started for the athletics clubs AS Poissy and later Racing Club de France .

At the age of 19, Bruno Marie-Rose took part in the 1984 Olympic Games . In the 100-meter run , he was eliminated in the second lap. The French 4 x 100 meter relay reached the final and finished sixth in 39.10 s.

In 1986 Marie-Rose won bronze in the sprint at the European Indoor Championships. In the summer at the outdoor European championships , he won bronze over 100 meters. The French season finished fourth. In 1987 Marie-Rose became European indoor champion in the 200-meter run in the indoor world record time of 20.36 seconds. Two weeks later at the World Indoor Championships, he won silver behind the American Kirk Baptiste . At the outdoor world championships he failed in the quarterfinals.

At the 1988 Olympic Games , Marie-Rose was eighth in the 200-meter run. The French 4 x 100 meter relay won bronze with the cast of Bruno Marie-Rose, Daniel Sangouma , Gilles Quenéhervé and Max Morinière in 38.40 seconds behind the Soviet Union and Great Britain. In 1989 and 1990 Marie-Rose won bronze over 200 meters at the European Indoor Championships.

At the European Championships in Split in 1990 , Marie-Rose finished fourth in the 100-meter run. Only sprinters from Great Britain and France were placed in the first six places, which meant an exciting race in the relay. The final on September 1, 1990 lived up to expectations. The British ran 37.98 s, but that was only enough for silver, because the French season with the line-up Max Morinière, Daniel Sangouma, Jean-Charles Trouabal and Bruno Marie-Rose ran a world record with 37.79 s. For the first time since the Jamaica season held the world record for a day in 1968, the world record was not owned by the season from the United States. In the same year, the four sprinters were voted France's Sportsman of the Year (“ Champion des champions ”) by the sports newspaper L'Équipe .

On August 7, 1991 at the Weltklasse Zürich meeting , the US relay improved the world record to 37.67 s, the French relay was well behind with 38.39 s, although they had the same line-up as in Split. At the 1991 World Championships , Marie-Rose reached the semifinals over 200 meters. In the season finale, the US sprinters improved their world record to 37.50 s, Morinière, Sangouma, Trouabal and Marie-Rose won silver with 37.87 s, ahead of the British.

At the 1992 Olympic Games , the French relay team with Marie-Rose was eliminated in the semifinals.
