Douglas Walker

Douglas Walker (born July 28, 1973 in Inverness ) is a former British sprinter who was successful in the 200-meter run and in the 4-by-100-meter relay .

After Walker had come over 200 meters to the semi-finals for Scotland starting at the 1994 Commonwealth Games in Victoria, he also succeeded in doing this at the 1997 World Championships in Athens . With the British relay he reached the final. Darren Braithwaite , Darren Campbell , Walker and Julian Golding won bronze in 38.14 seconds behind the relay from the United States and Nigeria.

In 1998 he won the European Championships in Budapest over 200 meters in 20.53 s before his compatriots Douglas Turner and Golding. The next day, Allyn Condon , Campbell, Walker and Golding also won the season title in 38.52 seconds. After the European Championships, Walker had to undergo an arthroscopy of the knee joint. Nevertheless, he entered four weeks after the European Championships at the Commonwealth Games in 1998 in Kuala Lumpur, but was only eighth in 20.69 s in the 200-meter final.

On July 19, 1998 in Gateshead he set a European best time of 31.56 s on the rarely run 300-meter course .

On December 1, 1998, Walker tested positive for nandrolone in a doping test . In 2000, he was retroactively suspended for two years.

Douglas Walker is 1.77 m tall and weighed 78 kg during his competitions.
