Jakob Scheuring

Jakob Scheuring (born October 29, 1912 in Odenheim , Bruchsal district ; † December 8, 2001 there ) was a German athlete who was successful at the European Athletics Championships in 1938 : in the 200-meter run , he came second (21.6 p ), and with the German 4 x 100 meter relay he became European champion (40.9 s, together with Manfred Kersch , Gerd Hornberger and Karl Neckermann ; Jakob Scheuring as the final runner).

Scheuring has been German champion five times, runner-up three times and third once. He won three of his championship titles on his parade route, the 200 meters (1938, 1939 and 1941). At this distance he was also twice runner-up (1940 and 1946) and achieved a third place (1937). There is also a German championship (1941) as well as a runner-up championship (1939) and the championship with the 4 x 100 meter relay of the Stuttgarter Kickers in 1946.

Jakob Scheuring initially started for the Turnerbund Ottenau club , and from 1941 for the Stuttgarter Kickers . When he competed, he was 1.76 m tall and weighed 74 kg. A sports hall and a running event are named after him in Ottenau.
