Patrick van Luijk

Patrick Jermaine Herschel van Luijk (born September 17, 1984 in Spijkenisse ) is a Dutch athlete who became European champion in 2012 with the 4 x 100 meter relay .

As a teenager, Patrick van Luijk played football at FC Dordrecht and Feyenoord Rotterdam and began athletics relatively late. In 2006 he took part in the European Championships in Gothenburg : In the 200-meter run , he was eliminated in the quarter-finals, with the Dutch 4-by-100-meter relay he reached the final and finished eighth. With the sprint relay he also reached the final at the 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing , but the relay was disqualified in the final. Van Luijk was the Dutch champion in the 100 and 200 meters in 2008 and 2009.

At the European Championships in Helsinki in 2012 , Patrick van Luijk won the silver medal over 200 meters behind his compatriot Churandy Martina , the Dutch sprint relay with Brian Mariano , Martina, Giovanni Codrington and van Luijk won the title in 38.34 s ahead of the German quartet.
