Jimmy Vicaut (born February 27, 1992 in Bondy ) is a French sprinter .

In 2010 he won bronze over 100m at the World Junior Athletics Championships in Moncton . Shortly thereafter, he was part of the French team that won the gold medal in the line-up of Vicaut, Christophe Lemaitre , Pierre-Alexis Pessonneaux and Martial Mbandjock at the European Athletics Championships in Barcelona in the 4 x 100 meter relay .

At the European Athletics Junior Championships 2011 in Tallinn, he won the 100-meter run and increased his personal best in the semifinals to 10.12 s and then to 10.07 s in the final. He was also a member of the French 4 x 100 meter relay, which won the gold medal in Tallinn.

At the European Championships in Helsinki in 2012 , he won the silver medal in 10.12 seconds behind teammate Lemaitre over 100 meters. At the Olympic Games 2012 Vicaut was eliminated in the second round, with the French sprint relay he finished fourth. Due to a positive doping test at Tyson Gay , the relay was subsequently awarded the bronze medal in May 2015.

In the winter of 2013 he dominated the 60-meter course: he stayed under 6.60 s a total of eight times, and won the French indoor championships in 6.53 s ahead of Emmanuel Biron and Christophe Lemaitre. He crowned his successful indoor season with a gold medal at the European Indoor Championships in Gothenburg, where he won 6.48 seconds ahead of the equally fast James Dasaolu . At the national championships on July 13, he set a new personal best in the semifinals with 9.95 s, which he then set when he won the final. At the World Championships in Moscow , he started both over 100 and 200 meters. In the 100 meter competition he reached the semi-finals with 10.06 s, where he was only tenth despite an increase to 10.01 s and thus missed the final. Over 200 meters he did not make it into the finals with 20.51 s in 14th place.

At an indoor meeting in Birmingham on February 15, 2014, he was able to set his 60 meter best time of 6.48 s from last year.

At the Diamond League Meeting in Paris on July 4, 2015, he equalized the eleven-year-old European record of the Portuguese Francis Obikwelu over 100 meters with 9.86 seconds . At the 2015 World Athletics Championships in Beijing , he reached the finals over 100 meters , where he finished eighth in 10.00 s. On June 7, 2016, he set the European record again at a meeting in Montreuil . At the European Championships in Amsterdam in 2016 , he won the bronze medal over 100 meters and the silver medal with the French relay.
