Jean-Charles Trouabal

Jean-Charles Trouabal (born May 20, 1965 in Paris ) is a former French athlete and Olympian. With a height of 1.87 m, his competition weight was 77 kg.

At the Olympic Games in 1988 Trouabal retired in the 100-meter run in the second round. He was not used in the season. In 1990 Trouabal won the French championship title in the 200-meter run for the first time . Five more titles were to follow by 1995.

At the European Championships in Split in 1990 , Trouabal was actually only intended for the 200-meter run. Here he won silver in 20.31 s behind the British John Regis . Gilles Quenéhervé was actually set for the season . However, Quenéhervé fell out due to illness and Trouabal moved into the 4 x 100 meter relay for him . The final on September 1, 1990 lived up to the high expectations. The British ran 37.98 s, but that was only enough for silver, because the French season with the line-up Max Morinière , Daniel Sangouma , Jean-Charles Trouabal and Bruno Marie-Rose ran a world record with 37.79 s. For the first time since the Jamaica season held the world record for a day in 1968, the world record was not owned by the season from the United States. In the same year, the four sprinters were voted France's Sportsman of the Year (“ Champion des champions ”) by the sports newspaper L'Équipe .

On August 7, 1991 at the Weltklasse Zürich meeting , the US relay improved the world record to 37.67 s, the French relay was well behind with 38.39 s, although they had the same line-up as in Split. At the 1991 World Championships , Trouabal was sixth over 200 meters. In the season finale, the US sprinters improved their world record to 37.50 s, Morinière, Sangouma, Trouabal and Marie-Rose won silver with 37.87 s, ahead of the British.

At the Olympic Games in 1992 Trouabal injured himself in the run over 200 meters. At the World Championships in 1993 , Trouabal was again sixth over 200 meters. The French relay was disqualified in the semi-finals.

At the European Championships in Helsinki in 1994 , Trouabal finished fifth over 200 meters in 20.70 s and was only two hundredths of a second behind third place. The season won the title again in 38.57 s with the cast of Hermann Lomba , Éric Perrot , Jean-Charles Trouabal and Daniel Sangouma.

At the end of his career, Trouabal reached the semi-finals again in the 1995 World Championships in the 200-meter run and in the relay.
