Béla Goldoványi

Béla Goldoványi (born December 20, 1925 in Budapest , † November 16, 1972 ibid) was a Hungarian athlete who specialized in the 100-meter run and was particularly successful internationally as a relay runner.

Goldoványi took fourth place in the 1948 Olympic Games in London with the Hungarian 4 x 100 meter relay . In the 100-meter run, however, he was eliminated in the quarter-finals. At the Olympic Games in Helsinki in 1952 , the Hungarian relay won the bronze medal behind the US and Soviet teams in the line-up László Zarándi , Géza Varasdi , György Csányi and Béla Goldoványi. Over 100 meters Goldoványi again reached the quarter-finals.

At the European Championships in 1954 in Bern , he won the title in the 4 x 100 meter relay. The Hungarian team set a championship record in the 1952 Olympic line-up with a time of 40.6 s and relegated the British and Soviet relays to their places. In his third and last Olympic participation in Melbourne in 1956 Goldoványi went in the 100-meter run, 200-meter run and with the relay, but did not reach the final in any of the competitions.
