Erich Borchmeyer

Erich Borchmeyer (born January 23, 1905 in Münster , † August 17, 2000 in Bielefeld ) was a German athlete who won a medal with the German 4 x 100 meter relay at the Olympic Games in 1932 and 1936 .

At the Olympic Games in 1932 Erich Borchmeyer won the silver medal together with Helmut Körnig , Friedrich Hendrix and Arthur Jonath ; he was the third runner. In the individual competition over 200 meters , he was eliminated in the semi-finals .

At the Olympic Games in 1936 he won the bronze medal together with Wilhelm Leichum , Erwin Gillmeister and Gerd Hornberger , this time he was second runner. In the 100-meter run , he was fifth (10.7 s).

He was also successful at the first European Athletics Championships in 1934 : With the 4 x 100 meter relay, he was the final runner, he was European champion (41.0 s, together with Egon Schein , Erwin Gillmeister and Gerd Hornberger ), and in the 100-meter run he was second after the photo finish (10.6 s).

Erich Borchmeyer initially started for Hanover 78 , TuS Bochum 08 , 1936 for Eintracht Frankfurt , and from 1937 for the Stuttgarter Kickers . In his active time he was 1.78 m tall and 81 kg. In his youth Borchmeyer was an active footballer, he played right winger at VfL Osnabrück .
