Arthur Jonath (born September 9, 1909 in Bentrop , Unna district ; † April 11, 1963 in Neu-Isenburg , Hesse ) was a German athlete who won the bronze medal in the 100-meter run (10th place ) at the 1932 Olympic Games in Los Angeles , 4 s) and the silver medal in the 4 x 100 meter relay (40.9 s, together with Helmut Körnig , Friedrich Hendrix and Erich Borchmeyer ). He also took part in the 200-meter run , where he was fourth (21.6 s). On June 5, 1932 in Bochum, he was the first European to run 10.3 s over the 100 meters, which was a world record at the time .

In 1930 Jonath was German runner-up over 100 meters. In 1931 and 1932 he was German champion over 100 and 200 meters. With the 4 x 100 meter relay of the DSV Hannover 1878 he was German runner-up in 1930, with the relay of the TuS Bochum he reached third place in 1931 and second place in the championship finals in 1932 and 1933.

Arthur Jonath belonged to the DSV Hannover 1878 until 1930 , then to the TuS Bochum 08 , a forerunner of the VfL Bochum . With a height of 1.79 m, he had a competition weight of 73 kg.
