Wiktor Bryshin

Viktor Arkadijowytsch Bryshin ( Ukrainian Віктор Аркадійович Бризгін ., English transcription Viktor Arkadyevich Bryzhin, Russian Виктор Аркадьевич Брызгин - Viktor Arkadievich Brysgin - Viktor Bryzgin * 22. August 1962 in Luhansk ) is a Ukrainian sprinter who for the Soviet Union starting in 1988 Olympic champion in the 4 x 100 meter relay .

He became Soviet champion five times:

  • 100 m 1986 (10.28 s)
  • 60 m (Halle) 1983 (6.69 s), 1986 (6.66 s), 1987 (6.60 s) and 1991 (6.64 s)

At the World Athletics Championships in Rome in 1987 , he reached the finals over 100 meters and was fifth in 10.25 s. For a medal, he would have had to be twelve hundredths of a second faster ( Carl Lewis won in the world record time of 9.93 s).

He had medal successes as a member of the Soviet 4 x 100 meter relay:

His wife Olha Wladykina-Bryshina is the 400-meter Olympic champion from 1988. Their daughters Jelysaweta Bryshina and Anastasija Bryshina are also successful as sprinters.
