Robert Taylor (athlete, 1948)
Robert Taylor ( Robert James Taylor; born September 14, 1948 in Tyler , Texas , † November 13, 2007 in Houston ) was an American sprinter and Olympic champion in the 4 x 100 meter relay .
At the 1972 Olympic Games in Munich, he won a silver medal in the 100-meter run , behind Valery Borsov from the Soviet Union and in front of the Jamaican Lennox Miller , and, together with Larry Black , Gerald Tinker and Eddie Hart , gold in the 4-time 100 meter relay in front of the teams from the Soviet Union and the Federal Republic of Germany .
Taylor won the AAU national 100 meter championships in 1972 .
He died on November 13, 2007 after being hospitalized for arrhythmias.
