Henry Russell (athlete)
Henry Argue "Hank" Russell (born December 15, 1904 in Buffalo , NY , † November 9, 1986 in West Chester , Pennsylvania ) was an American athlete and Olympic champion .
As a student at Cornell University , Russell won the IC4A championships over 100 yards in 1926 and over 220 yards in 1925 and 1926. At the IX. At the 1928 Olympic Games in Amsterdam , he was eliminated from the semi-finals in the heats for the 100-meter run . In the 4 x 100 meter relay race, however, he and his teammates Frank Wykoff , James Quinn and Charles Borah won the team gold medal with a new world record time of 41.0 s, ahead of the teams from Germany (silver) and Great Britain (bronze) .
