Jackson Volney Scholz (born March 15, 1897 in Buchanan , Michigan , † October 26, 1986 in Delray Beach , Florida ) was an American athlete and Olympic champion .

Scholz studied at the University of Missouri . With his studies and the preparations for the Olympic Games he was busy, so that he only won one national championship title, in 1925 over 220 yards , during this time . He took part in the Olympic Games in 1920, 1924 and 1928.

At the VII Olympic Games in Antwerp in 1920 he won the team gold medal in the 4 x 100 meter relay together with his teammates Charles Paddock , Loren Murchison and Morris Kirksey , ahead of the teams from France (silver) and Sweden (bronze). In the same year, on September 6th in Stockholm, he set a new official world record with a time of 10.6 s over the 100-meter distance.

At the VIII Olympic Games in Paris in 1924 , he won the gold medal in the 200-meter run , ahead of the American Charles Paddock (silver) and the British Eric Liddell (bronze). He also won the silver medal in the 100-meter run behind the British Harold Abrahams (gold) and ahead of the New Zealander Arthur Porritt (bronze). During his participation in the IX.
