Paul Drayton
Paul Drayton ( Otis Paul Drayton ; born May 8, 1939 in Glen Cove , Long Island , New York , † March 2, 2010 ) was an American sprinter and Olympic champion .
In 1961 and 1963 he won the AAU championships over 220 yards . In 1961 he was also a member of the team in the 4 x 100 meter relay , which set a world record with 39.1 s. He himself equalized the world record over 200 meters with 20.5 s in 1962.
At the 1964 Olympic Games in Tokyo, he won the silver medal in the 200-meter run behind his compatriot Henry Carr (gold) and ahead of Edwin Roberts from Trinidad and Tobago, as well as the team gold medal in the 4 x 100 meter relay together with his teammates Gerry Ashworth , Richard Stebbins and Bob Hayes , ahead of the teams from Poland (silver) and France (bronze).
