Michael Lawrence "Mike" Marsh (born August 4, 1967 in Los Angeles ) is a former American athlete and Olympic champion .

Marsh attended the High School in Hawthorne , California , and began there with his running training. He then went to the University of California in Los Angeles and continued his training there. During his college days, his greatest achievement was a third place finish in the NCAA championships.

At the 1992 Olympic Games in Barcelona, ​​he won the gold medal in the 200-meter run in front of Namibian Frank Fredericks and his compatriot Michael Bates . In the semifinals, he missed Pietro Mennea's world record by a hundredth of a second with 19.73 s because he did not go through fully in view of his clear lead. He also won gold with the 4 x 100 meter relay , together with Leroy Burrell , Dennis Mitchell and Carl Lewis , ahead of the teams from Nigeria and Cuba .

At the 1996 Olympic Games in Atlanta, he won the silver medal in the 4-by-100-meter relay together with Jon Drummond , Tim Harden and Dennis Mitchell, behind the team from Canada and in front of the team from Brazil .

He reached the final three times at world championships: in 1993 in Stuttgart he was fourth over 200 meters, in 1995 in Gothenburg fifth over 100 meters and in 1997 in Athens eighth over 100 meters.
