Tim Harden (born January 27, 1974 in Kansas City , Missouri ) is a former American track and field athlete whose specialty was sprinting .

Sporting successes

Harden took part in the 1996 Olympic Games in Atlanta and won together with Jon Drummond , Michael Marsh and Dennis Mitchell in the 4 x 100 meter relay the silver medal behind the team from Canada and ahead of Brazil.

Harden was also successful as an individual starter: He won two medals at the World Indoor Athletics Championships: silver in 1999 and gold in 2001 , each in the 60-meter sprint. At the World Indoor Championships in 1999, Harden had to admit defeat to Maurice Greene by just a hundredth of a second in 6.43 s, the fourth fastest time ever run over this distance .

Because of a positive doping test, Harden lost his national indoor title in the 60-meter run in 1998.
