Loren Murchison (born December 17, 1898 in Farmersville , Texas , † June 11, 1979 in Lakewood , New Jersey ) was an American athlete and Olympic champion .

Murchison won the US indoor athletics championships over 60 yards in 1919, 1920, 1922, 1923 and 1924. He won the 300 yards in 1919, 1920, 1923 and 1924. The US athletics championships he won over 100 meters in the years 1920 and 1923 and over 200 meters in 1918 and 1923.

At the VII Olympic Games in Antwerp in 1920 , he reached fourth place in the 100-meter run and sixth place in the 200-meter run . In the 4 x 100 meter relay race , he and his teammates Charlie Paddock , Jackson Scholz and Morris Kirksey won the gold medal with a new world record, ahead of the teams from France (silver) and Sweden (bronze). He also took part in the VIII Olympic Games in Paris in 1924 . Like four years before, he finished sixth over 200 meters and won the gold medal again in the 4 x 100 meter relay, this time together with Louis Clarke , Frank Hussey and Alfred LeConey , also with a new world record time, in front of the teams from Great Britain (silver) and the Netherlands (bronze).
