West Chester is a US city in Pennsylvania in Chester County , the county seat of which it is. At the 2010 census it had 18,461 inhabitants on an area of 4.8 km².
West Chester is southwest of the city of Philadelphia . The city was founded under the name Turk's Head .
The corporate headquarters of Commodore International was in West Chester , where the Amiga was also developed. Today the commercial complex is used for the company headquarters and the American studios of the shopping channel QVC . The city is also home to West Chester University .
