Brandon Cole "Bam" Margera (born September 28, 1979 in West Chester , Pennsylvania ) is an American skateboarder , stunt performer , actor and filmmaker .

career

Bam was born to April and Phil Margera and has a brother named Jess Margera, who is a member of the rock band CKY . According to his own account, he received the nickname "Bam" from his grandfather. After finishing school, Margera made short films with his friends Brandon DiCamillo , Ryan Dunn , Chris Raab and Rake Yohn that contain a mixture of skateboarding tricks , music and dangerous tests of courage. The four CKY films named after the band of Margera's brother were later cut from these .

Through the CKY films, the TV broadcaster MTV became aware of Margera and his friends and hired the five as actors for the series Jackass , which shows the actors conducting dangerous or disgusting tests of courage and betting. After the show was discontinued in 2002, Margera initiated and shot the offshoot series Viva La Bam , in which his parents and his uncle "Don Vito" are victims of various pranks. Margera also wrote and directed the feature film Haggard and appeared in the skater film Grind - Sex, Boards & Rock'n'Roll .

From November 2004 to February 2013 Margera could be heard once a week with his own radio show Radio Bam on Sirius Satellite Radio . He was also sponsored by Element as a professional skateboarder until 2016 .

Private

From 2007 to 2012 he was married to Melissa "Missy" Rothstein. In 2013 he married Nicole Boyd in Reykjavík, Iceland . On June 19, 2017, Margera announced his wife's pregnancy. Margera's son is named Phoenix Wolf and was born on December 23, 2017.

Trivia

  • After the accidental death of his friend Ryan Dunn in 2011, Margera had a tattoo on his right upper arm in his honor.
  • In September 2014 Margera recorded the duet Beds Are Burning with Dani Filth , which can be heard on Devilment's album The Great and Secret Show .
  • Margera is the owner of her own record label called "Filthy Note", which specializes in metal bands.
  • Margera's popularity resulted in his being featured as a character in several of the Tony Hawk series of skateboarding video games .
  • Margera is a good friend of the HIM front man Ville Valo , who like him is a member of the Turbo Youth . He was also involved as a director on the music videos for "Buried Alive By Love", "The Sacrament", "Solitary Man" and "And Love Said No". Margera has several heartagram tattoos designed by Ville Valo which are also the ribbon symbol of HIM.
  • Margera can also be seen in the music video "Foxtrot Uniform Charlie Kilo" by the Bloodhound Gang . He drives the banana car there. He can also be seen in the music videos "Lost Boys" and "Dead N 'Gone" by the Finnish band The 69 Eyes .
  • Margera took part in the TV total Automobile World Championship 2014 on June 7, 2014 and represented the USA at this tournament. He played his first game against host Stefan Raab and lost 7-0.
  • At the 2015 Wok World Championship , Margera competed for the USA.
  • In 2017 Margera was a guest at The Nine Club with Chris Roberts , where he gives insights into his life.
