Dani Filth (born July 25, 1973 in Suffolk , United Kingdom ), real name Daniel Lloyd Davey , is a British singer. He is best known as the front man and songwriter for Cradle of Filth .

Career

Dani Filth was born the eldest son of Janet Moore and Lawrence John Davey. He has three younger siblings. He spent his childhood in Suffolk, England. Already in school he sang in various bands, which only made a few demo recordings . At 18, he tried his hand at music journalism until he founded Cradle of Filth in 1991. Their debut album The Principle of Evil Made Flesh was released in 1994 . The very successful extreme metal band has released twelve studio albums to date, as well as various EPs , live albums and videos / DVDs.

Dani Filth's vocals are mainly characterized by the alternation between growling and screaming . His lyrics are often kept in the literary style, sometimes early New English words are used to make the songs darker.

Dani Filth has a daughter born in 1999 and married his girlfriend Toni on October 31, 2005 in Ipswich .

In addition to Cradle of Filth, Dani Filth acted as a singer in the Roadrunner United project in 2005. He also played a supporting role in the splatter film Cradle of Fear and voiced the main character in the cartoon Dominator . He has made a few guest appearances on British and American television. He played in the quiz show Never Mind the Buzzcocks .

In 2008 Dani Filth announced a book called The Gospel of Filth: A Black Metal Bible , in which Dani Filth, as co-author alongside Gavin Baddeley , wants to review the story of Cradle of Filth. The book was published in March 2010. The book was published in Germany in 2011 under the title The Compendium of Dark Arts .

In May 2011 he founded the death metal band Temple of the Black Moon together with guitarist Rob Caggiano , bassist King and drummer John Tempesta . In August 2014 he joined the symphonic black metal band Devilment, founded in 2011 by guitarist Daniel J. Finch. In addition to him, guitarists Colin Parks , Nick Johnson, drummer Aaron Boast and keyboardist Lauren Francis are part of Devilment. In 2015 he sang the duet "The Creator and the Destroyer" with Simone Simons for the computer game Karmaflow The Rock Opera . In 2016 he was in front of the camera for the director Matthan Harris in the indie horror thriller film Baphomet, which was shot in Marina del Rey , California , alongside Giovanni Lombardo Radice . In autumn 2019 he brought out a Cradle of Filth streetwear and pop up collection on the indie fashion label Drop Dead together with Bring Me the Horizon frontman Oli Sykes .
