Sarah Jezebel Deva (* 25. February 1977 in London Borough of Newham ), actually Sarah Jane Ferridge , is an English Metal - singer . She became known as a background and choir singer for various metal bands, especially Cradle of Filth . In total she has worked on over 35 albums, but she has also been the lead singer on various releases.

Career

In 1996, with Vempire or Dark Faerytales in Phallustein, the first Cradle-of-Filth EP was released, in which Deva participated, since then she has appeared on every release of the band. For the metal - Supergroup Covenant Deva sang on the second album Nexus Polaris in 1998. Also in 1998, she sang alto and soprano on the Therion album Vovin - a year before she was already as a background singer for Therion on the tour with Crematory and Lake of Tears included - a year later only alto on Therion's CD Crowning of Atlantis . The Mortiis -albums Secrets of My Kingdom and The Smell of Rain in 2001 Sarah Jezebel Deva took over all vocal parts on the 2002 The Smell of Rain she was also represented as an alto and soprano. Live In Midgård from the same year is the last Therion release on which she was involved. In 2004 she contributed a cover version of The Wind That Shakes the Barley for the dead-can-dance tribute sampler The Lotus Eaters . In 2006, The Stargate, the last Mortiis album so far, was released, again with the participation of Deva. In 2002 she founded the symphonic metal band Angtoria , and in 2006 her debut album God Has a Plan for Us All was released .

Deva is also a guest musician with Tulus , Graveworm , The Gathering and Mystic Circle .

On January 15, 2010 her first solo album A Sign of Sublime was released . A year later, their second album The Corruption of Mercy was released on June 27 in Europe and on September 13 in the USA and Canada. A music video was also shot for their first single, The World Won't Hold Your Hand .

Pieces from their currently inactive band Angtoria , which have never performed live themselves, are also played during performances.
