Edijs Brahmanis (born November 17, 1983 in Riga , Latvian SSR ) is a Latvian ice hockey player who has been under contract with HK Sary-Arka Karaganda in the Kazakh championship since 2011 .

Career

Brahmanis started his career in the team of Essamika / Juniors Riga from Division B of the East European Hockey League . During the current season he moved to Prizma '83 Riga in the Latvijas Hokeja Līga , for which he was on the ice until 2002. Then the striker went to the North American Eastern Junior Hockey League, first to the New Hampshire Jr. Monarchs and in the 2002/03 season to the Valley Junior Warriors .

In 2003 he returned to Europe and played there for ASK / Ogre in the EEHL and the Latvian league. The left-handed shooter scored the most goals in the league in the 2004/05 season and was runner-up with his team. After this success, the Basingstoke Bison committed the Latvians, where he was used both in the Elite Ice Hockey League and in the national cup competition, the Challenge Cup . For the 2006/07 season Brahmanis went back to the Latvian league and stormed there for one year for HK Riga 2000 and again ASK / Ogre. The striker came to HK Liepājas Metalurgs in 2008, with whom he reached the Latvian championship and also competed in the open Belarusian extra league. With 31 goals in 46 games, the attacker was the top scorer in the league. In addition, he completed four games for Dinamo Riga in the Continental Hockey League and was able to score one goal.

At the beginning of the 2009/10 season Edijs Brahmanis played for the Eispiraten Crimmitschau , but left them in October 2009 and returned to his home country for HK Liepājas Metalurgs, with whom he again won the Latvian championship title in 2011. For the 2011/12 season he moved to HK Sary-Arka Karaganda from the Kazakh championship .

International

Brahmanis gained his first international experience in 2000 for the Latvian junior team, with whom he took part in three junior world championships. His consistent performance over the last few years helped him to join the extended squad of the Latvian national team . With the team he played the entire preparation phase for the 2009 World Cup , but did not make it into the World Cup squad.
