Sirius Satellite Radio is one of two satellite radio providers in the United States and Canada . After the merger with competitor XM Satellite Radio , approved in 2008, it belongs to Sirius XM Holding. Sirius currently has around 7 million subscribers ( pay radio ), and together with XM Radio, the company has around 18.5 million subscribers.

The company's headquarters are in New York City . Additional Sirius Studios are located in Los Angeles , Houston , Memphis , New Orleans , Nashville and Daytona .

Sirius broadcasts on 140 channels, including 71 ad-free music channels ( Pop , Rock , Elec / Dance , Hip-Hop / R&B , Country , Christian , Jazz / Blues , Standards , Classical and Latin / Int'l ). The station uses exclusive contracts with the NFL , NBA , NASCAR , Chelsea London , Wimbledon , CFL and around 150 college sports partners. Satellites

Sirius Satellite Radio currently operates an active fleet of several satellites: Sirius FM-1 , Sirius FM-2 , Sirius FM-3 and the newer series Sirius FM-5 . The launch of Sirius FM-6 took place on October 25, 2013. Sirius FM-1 to Sirius FM-3 were stationed in highly elliptical geosynchronous orbits with a 63.4 ° orbit inclination between 23,975 km and 46,983 km altitude.
