Radio Disney is a radio network that has been based in Burbank , California since November 2008 , after previously stationed in Dallas , Texas . The channel's content, especially the music, has been tailored to children and young teenagers. The presentation can be described as a youth-friendly, contemporary contemporary hit radio . Radio Disney was launched on November 18, 1996 - coinciding with Mickey Mouse 's birthday - at 5:58 am with the song "Get Ready For This". At the start of Radio Disney, children up to 12 years of age could win prizes. In 2000, the maximum age was increased to 14. In June 2009, Radio Disney changed the maximum age again, this time to 16 years.

Since 2002 Radio Disney has been closely associated with singers and actors from Disney Channel , such as Hilary Duff and Raven-Symoné Pearman ; also recently with Miley Cyrus , Taylor Swift , the Jonas Brothers , Demi Lovato , Selena Gomez and others. In 2002 the Radio Disney Music Awards premiered. This is a music awards ceremony that has been held every year since then.

In 2004 Disney paid the former Children's Broadcasting Corporation $ 12.4 million. Disney had worked with Radio Aahs for some time prior to launching Radio Disney . With Radio Disney now becoming a direct competitor to Radio Aahs' company, which had about 30 stations in its largest expansion, former Aahs owners sued Disney for a breached agreement and sought damages .

2006 Radio Disney celebrated its 10th anniversary. The first hour re-broadcast was broadcast on June 6, 2006 at 4:58 pm. In February 2006, the Walt Disney Company announced that it would keep Radio Disney and its stations, even though it had lost much of its "radio ownership" to Citadel Broadcasting .

In April 2007, Radio Disney deleted the word “Ears” from their first slogan “We're all ears!” From their phone number. The phone number was originally pronounced as 1-8-8-8, EARS, 0-1-8. However, since all DJs read this number as 1-888-327-7018, Radio Disney changed the phone number to 1-877-870-5678 in May 2009.

Since 2008, Radio Disney has added more songs from the Disney Channel shows , as well as music from other youth music groups belonging to Walt Disney Records or Hollywood Records .

Radio Disney plays a wide variety of star songs and Disney Channel shows along with other popular songs. Playhouse Disney

Playhouse Disney (originally "Mickey and Minnie's Tune Time" between 1998 and 2001) is broadcast during the school year from 12:00 ET to 1:00 ET on Radio Disney and has been since inception by Robin, Tina, BB Good and Susan Huber, currently operated by Betsy. Originally, Playhouse Disney was a two-hour block, but has recently been limited to one hour. The same thing happened with the “Circle Time Story” program (originally “Mickey And Minnie's Storytime Theater” between 1998 and 2001), which consists of stories from Disney films that you can read along. Like Playhouse Disney on Disney Channel , this program is also geared towards preschoolers on Radio Disney. Radio Disney World Tour

In 2000 and 2001, Radio Disney launched two separate "world tours" that traveled across the United States to major markets. In 2000, the tour showed budding talents like “No Authority” or “ Myra ” and the radio Disney DJs “Mark and Zippy”. The tour went through the following cities: Atlanta, New York, Boston, Dallas, Chicago, Houston, Phoenix, Los Angeles, San Francisco and Seattle. Radio Disney can be listened to online at RadioDisney.com and is also available on iTunes .

From 1997 to 1999, the radio network was broadcast in digital format on the Disney website. The service was discontinued in 1999 but soon appeared as a pre-installed channel on QuickTime's media list. The service disappeared again in 2000 when Quicktime 5 appeared. In March 2006 such an offer reappeared in Windows Media Player as Radio Disney 2.0. It was later converted to a Flash format that could display song lyrics and the songs previously played.

Radio and TV subscription

Radio Disney is available in digital audio quality on XM Satellite Radio and Sirius Satellite Radio in both the United States and Canada on Channel 115. After Radio Disney had worked with "Music Choice" for some time, Radio Disney was joined by "Music Choice" on September 18, 2007 with its own channel, "Kidz Only!", A station similar to Radio Disney, but with less interrupted music. replaced. Channel

The radio network mainly uses AM stations, but also uses some FM stations. Many of the current callsigns of Disney radio stations are variants of Mickey and Minnie Mouse or just represent Disney names. At least one name seems to be for Goofy . Another stands for “Walt Disney World” (WDW).

Stations running on HD radio can have a delay of eight seconds. In order to compensate for such a delay compared to the other transmitters, the signal is deliberately delayed on them.

International

Internationally there are Radio Disney stations in Australia , Chile , Japan , Poland , Argentina , Paraguay , Nicaragua , Guatemala , Uruguay , Costa Rica and the Dominican Republic . There are plans to resume radio in the UK , but this time under the "Radio Disney" brand, with the aim of targeting a younger audience than before. Europe

Radio Disney planned to air on the UK digital radio platform by the end of 2008 . The idea started with using Capital Radio's programming expertise to help Disney launch a radio station in the UK. At the beginning of 2007, both Capital Radio, now GCap Media, and Disney agreed to pursue different goals. The result was that Capital Disney stopped broadcasting and closed on June 29, 2007.

In 2010, the media council of the State Media Authority of Saarland approved the Disney Company for the nationwide distribution of “Radio Disney”.
