Playhouse Disney was the first television channel in Germany for children up to about six years of age.
history
It started its program on November 10, 2004 in the pay TV offer of Vodafone Kabel Deutschland and via satellite since September 13, 2007 via the Sky Welt pay TV package (formerly Premiere Star) and broadcast daily from 6:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. . The program should be geared towards the needs of preschool children and encourage the children's development through play. Every day five moderators accompanied the children's everyday life. The shows always revolve around a topic such as: B. Animals, plants or human food. On the side there was also cooking and singing. The program was free of violence and advertising. Playhouse Disney was not only in Germany but also in Great Britain , the USA and France . The broadcast license was applied for by The Walt Disney Company and granted by the Bavarian State Center for New Media in October 2004.
On April 18, 2011 it was announced that Playhouse Disney, now also in Germany, will be replaced by Disney Junior . The changeover, which began in the USA at the beginning of February 2011, was completed in Germany on July 14, 2011. From July 7th to the end of broadcasting, there was a countdown that indicated the start of Disney Junior. On July 14, 2011 at 1:30 p.m., the Disney Playhouse was replaced by Disney Junior. The last broadcast on the Disney Playhouse was the Mickey Mouse Wonder House space film. The first show on Disney Junior was Jake and the Never Land Pirates.
