The Jonas Brothers are a pop rock band from Wyckoff , New Jersey formed in 2005. It consists of the three brothers Kevin , Joe and Nick Jonas . They released four albums until their separation in October 2013, two of which reached number one on the US charts.
In February 2019, the Jonas Brothers reunited. They then released their single Sucker and their fifth album Happiness Begins .
Band history
founding
The band was formed in 2004. Nick Jonas already had a record deal with INO Records and Columbia Records and released his solo album Nicholas Jonas in 2004/2005 . A few months later, Columbia Records director Steve Greenberg heard the album and liked Nick's voice. At a subsequent meeting with his management, Nick Jonas sang the song Please Be Mine with his brothers Joe and Kevin , and the record label decided to sign the three as a band with Daylight Records . At first the three brothers wanted to perform as Sons of Jonas , but later decided on Jonas Brothers .
2005 to 2006: debut album and loss of the record deal
After the group signed their record deal, they accompanied the Backstreet Boys on their Never Gone Tour , where Jesse McCartney also acted as the opening act . They also joined Kelly Clarkson's tour for a few shows before embarking on their first own tour, the Jonas Brothers Fall 2005 Promo Tour , where they played songs that later appeared on their debut album. In spring 2006, the band then accompanied the Australian music duo The Veronicas on their The Veronicas 2006 US Tour , which is also known as the Jonas Brothers American Club Tour on the part of the Jonas Brothers . After the tour ended, the music group began to take care of the recordings for their debut album. This was originally supposed to appear in February 2006, but it was finally released in August 2006 and reached number 91 in the American charts. The song Mandy had already been released on December 27, 2005, but it did not make it into the charts. Another song from the album was released on May 16, Year 3000 was a cover of the British boy band Busted and reached number 31 in America. The band can also be heard on several soundtracks , including the album for the film Aquamarin - Die vernixte first love and the new version of the soundtrack for Arielle, the mermaid . In early 2007, the band then changed the record label, as Sony , which owned the rights to Columbia Records, was not interested in a further collaboration. On February 8, 2007 it was announced in a statement that the band was now under contract with Hollywood Records .
2007 to 2008: Increasing popularity and international breakthrough
On April 9, 2007, the band was during the annual White House Easter Egg Roll guest at the White House , where she and the national anthem sang the US. On August 7, 2007, the group's second album was released under the name Jonas Brothers . After changing the record label, there was also commercial success. The album reached number 5 in America, and the brothers were also able to attract attention in Germany with number 19. To promote the album, the music group from June to October on Marvelous Party Tour and then joined the Best of Both Worlds Tour of Miley Cyrus on. The band finally had their big breakthrough in 2008 with the television film Camp Rock , in which they played the leading roles alongside Demi Lovato and could also be heard on the extremely successful soundtrack. The same year the band released their third album, A Little Bit Longer . It reached number 1 in the American charts and number 23 in Germany. The band had previously embarked on their When You Look Me in the Eyes tour , which ran from January to April. In summer 2008 they accompanied Avril Lavigne on the European part of their The Best Damn Tour , and in July they started their Burnin 'Up Tour . They also worked on the debut album Demi Lovatos. They wrote almost all of the songs on the Don't Forget album with her and were also active as producers. At the end of 2008 they were nominated for Best New Act at the 2009 Grammy Awards , which honored the best artists of 2008. The Jonas Brothers lost to British singer Adele at the award ceremony .
2009 to 2010: fourth studio album and two world tours
In 2009 the band released their last album Lines, Vines and Trying Times . It was also number 1 in America, but only reached number 56 in Germany. In addition, the group embarked on their first 86-concert world tour. The Jonas Brothers World Tour 2009 lasted eight months and included concerts in North America and Europe with a focus on Southern Europe. In 2010 the sequel to Camp Rock was on television. The soundtrack Camp Rock 2: The Final Jam for the film of the same name was just as successful as its predecessor. In addition, the band's second world tour took place in the same year. The Jonas Brothers Live in Concert World Tour 2010 did not include concerts in Europe, unlike the first worldwide tour.
2010 to 2013: break and separation
After the Jonas Brothers Live in Concert World Tour 2010 , Joe Jonas announced that he would dedicate himself to the solo album Fastlife . This was published on October 11, 2011. In September and October he went on the Joe Jonas & Jay Sean Tour together with Jay Sean. In October 2011 Joe Jonas was also in Germany as a solo artist for the first time and appeared in the opening act for Britney Spears ' Cologne concert . Femme Fatale Tour on. In February 2019, the band announced their reunion on Instagram. On March 1, 2019, the Jonas Brothers celebrated their comeback. The video for the single Sucker was published on YouTube on the same day . On June 7th, the accompanying album Happiness Begins was released .
Acting career
The band also started their acting career together. They were seen in many Disney series before they got their own series called Jonas LA (then JONAS ) on the station in 2009 . In October 2010 the program was discontinued. In 2008 and 2009 they could also be seen in the cinema, both in 3D concert films. In the film for the concert tour by Miley Cyrus , Hannah Montana & Miley Cyrus: Best of Both Worlds Concert , the brothers could be seen as the opening act before they headlined in Jonas Brothers - The Ultimate 3D Concert Experience. The film accompanies their Burnin 'Up tour . The group achieved international fame in 2008 with the television film Camp Rock , in which they played the leading roles alongside Demi Lovato . The film was Disney's second most successful at the time. The sequel Camp Rock 2: The Final Jam ran on television in 2010 and was just as successful as its predecessor. In the same year they also had a speaking role in the film Night at Museum 2 . They have also appeared as guest stars on many different programs, such as Saturday Night Live and Das Hausbau-Kommando . There was also a reality television series about the brothers. It was called Jonas Brothers: Living the Dream and followed the life of the band.
Charity
The Jonas Brothers made over $ 12 million in 2007. They donated 10% of their earnings to Nick's charity Change for the Children Foundation .
