The band Nick Jonas & the Administration is a pop band founded in autumn 2008 around Jonas Brothers member Nick Jonas , which is classified as pop-rock and processes influences from blues and soul . Their debut album Who I Am was released in February 2010. The band is under contract with the music label Jonas Records , which is part of Hollywood Records .

Band history

founding

On October 28, 2009, the Jonas Brothers confirmed on their official MySpace page that Nick Jonas is working on a side project called Nick Jonas & the Administration . It was also made clear that the Jonas Brothers would not split up. The founding members Michael Bland , Tommy Barbarella and the guitarist Sonny Thompson, who has also been part of the band since 2009 , were all founding members of The New Power Generation , which is the backing band of the musician Prince . Nick Jonas said in an interview in December 2009 that the Bruce Springsteen & E Street Band project is the model for the band structure.

In an interview, Nick said the following about the formation of the band:

“I had written five or six songs that came from the heart, things with a new and exciting sound that just poured out of me. They weren't exactly right for the Jonas Brothers, but I thought they might be perfect for something else. "

- Excerpt from an interview with USA Today :

"I had written five or six songs that were on my heart, things that were just pouring out of me with this new and exciting sound. They weren't necessarily right for the Jonas Brothers, but I thought they could be perfect for something else. "

The band's name is a reference to Nick Jonas' interest in politics.

2009 to 2010: Who I Am & Tour

On December 3, 2009, the band's debut single, Who I Am , was released. The music video followed shortly afterwards. The song reached number 73 in America, it was not released in Germany. On February 2nd, the band released their debut album, which includes 10 songs. A deluxe version of the CD was released on the same day, containing the 10 songs of the standard version and a bonus DVD. The album reached number 3 in America and number 78 in Germany. In May 2010 it had sold 151,000 times in America. In January 2010 the band played their first tour together ( Who I Am Tour ). On May 11th, 2010 the band released their first live album called Nick Jonas & The Administration Live at the Wiltern January 28th, 2010 and recorded during the Who I Am tour . It contains 13 songs and was only available as a download.

2011 until today: Second tour and further promotion

On February 23, 2011, Nick Jonas played an acoustic set in Virginia with John Taylor , a live member of the Jonas Brothers . They played songs by the band as well as Jonas Brothers songs and also covered some songs from the charts at the time. A new song (London Foolishly) was also sung for the first time. In April ( Military Event , Columbus ), July ( Microsoft Store Grand Opening , Century City ; Cisco Bluesfest Ottawa ) and August ( Musikfest , Bethlehem ) the band played a few shows together before setting off on their South America tour in mid-September. The concerts of the Nick Jonas 2011 Tour took place from September 21st to October 8th 2011 and, like the first tour, served to promote the debut album.

On December 13, a video was posted on the website of Cambio magazine with singer Nick Jonas singing the song Last Time Around . It also shows fans watching the band rehearse for their Nick Jonas 2011 tour . This video, like the three following, is part of an internet series called FanDrop , which aims to give fans of the group a look behind the scenes. In the second episode of the fan series, which appeared on the website on December 15th, the band played the song Conspiracy Theory . The third episode was shown for the first time on December 20, in which Jonas finally sings the song Who I Am . The teaser for the fourth episode was released on the same day. Again he shows the band rehearsing. The fourth and final episode will air on December 22nd.
