A Little Bit Longer is the third studio album by the American band Jonas Brothers . It was released on August 12, 2008 under the Hollywood Records label in the United States , Canada and Brazil and peaked at number one in the United States. The single Burnin 'Up released on June 24, 2008 rose to number five in the US and is the band's most successful song to date.

Background and useful information

The album was the second that the brothers released on the Hollywood Records label. The CD was named after the single of the same name, which singer Nick Jonas wrote about his illness type 1 diabetes . In addition, this album was produced, just like its predecessor Jonas Brothers, with the CDVU + technology developed by The Walt Disney Company , which allows the storage of computer-readable files. Thanks to this technology, the album contains over 30 pages with special features such as exclusive video appearances, 60 printable photos, all lyrics, downloadable graphics and more.

Publication and promotion

The group's third studio album was released on August 12, 2008, and was released in Europe on October 3. On December 9, 2008 and January 14, 2009, two deluxe editions were released in Canada and Japan, each with a bonus DVD. The album was promoted mainly by the Burnin 'Up Tour , which took place from July to September 2008 and included 47 concerts in North America and one in the Caribbean. The footage recorded during the tour was released as a 3D cinema film in February 2009 and was named Jonas Brothers - The Ultimate 3D Concert Experience .

Singles

Burnin 'Up

The first single from the album was released for radio stations on June 20, and the music video was shown for the first time on the same day. The film Camp Rock was also televised on June 20 . From June 24th, the song was available on iTunes . The title rose to number five on the Billboard Hot 100 , making it the band's most successful song to date. The song reached number 35 in Germany.

Lovebug

The second single, Lovebug , was first played on September 7, 2008 at the 2008 MTV Video Music Awards . The song was available in the US from September 30th. The music video in which Camilla Belle can be seen was shown for the first time on October 19. In the charts, the song was far less successful than the previous single, it only reached 49th place in the USA.

Tonight

The third release was also the last. To this day, the song behind Burnin 'Up is the most successful single in the US at number eight, but it did not enter the charts in Germany. The title first appeared as a download on July 29, 2008, as it was part of a promotion organized by iTunes . The song was officially released as the third single on January 4, 2009, and then entered the charts for the second time.

iTunes promotional deal

On June 24, 2008, iTunes announced that it would be releasing one song every two weeks, a total of four tracks, based on an advertising contract with the band. Those songs were Burnin 'Up , Pushin' Me Away , Tonight and A Little Bit Longer .

Commercial win

Songs

All three published songs entered the charts, and three other titles also reached the Billboard Hot 100 as a result of the advertising deal with iTunes .

The reviews for the third studio album were overall rather positive. Stephen Thomas Erlewine from Allmusic wrote that the Jonas Brothers were a pop phenomenon . In addition, the lingering stupidity of the group's first two albums has disappeared and the band has matured. The Observer magazine , which wrote two different reviews of the CD, rated it negatively and sarcastically noted that three American Evangelical benefactor siblings supported by Disney are on a mission to save the moral rock 'n' roll dump. The Slant Magazine was to withdraw the opinion that the album would not be possible, despite good sales figures the Jonas Brothers out of the shadows of teen pop music. The Los Angeles Times claimed that the band showed vulnerability with some of the songs on the album, but overall it was still rather meaningless and also had little depth.
