It's About Time (dt .: It is high time ) is the debut album by the American band Jonas Brothers . It was released on August 8, 2006 under the Columbia Records and INO Records labels in the USA. It is not available in Germany. As the first and only single on the album, the song Mandy was released in December 2005 , which, however, missed a chart position.

Background and PhD

After completing their numerous tours, the music group began to take care of the recordings for their debut album. This was originally supposed to appear in February 2006, later it was postponed to March 2006 and April 11, 2006. Subsequently, May 2, 2006 was favored as the release date. It was finally released on August 8, 2006. The group had signed their record deal a year earlier. It was the only CD the band sold under the Columbia Records label , and in December 2006 they lost their contract. The song Year 3000 featured on this album also appeared on the next one and is the only one for which the group's new label, Hollywood Records , got the distribution rights. The title Time For Me to Fly was heard in the film Aquamarine - Die vernixte first love .

Track list

There are two different playlists from the debut album. Both versions have eleven titles. The second version of the album appeared a little later than the first and instead of Don't Tell Anyone , We're Gonna Be Alright and Dear God, the songs Please Be Mine and two cover versions of the busted title What I Go To School For and Year 3000 . In addition, the order of the songs is different.

success

Commercial win

The album fell short of expectations commercially, only reaching number 91 on the Billboard charts, where it only lasted a week. In Germany and large parts of Europe, the album was not released, so it could not be placed in the charts. According to the manager of the band, the album was only available to a limited extent, for example only 50,000 CDs were made. That is also the reason why the album can only be acquired at comparatively high prices today. Around 62,000 records have been sold to date, despite the initially lower production number.

reception

The album got average reviews. Starpulse.com, for example, gave the album three stars and wrote that it was an amusing debut and had more hooks than most of the other teen-oriented music of the year . About.com rated the CD rather negatively and questioned the credibility and marketing concept of the record label. Kim Jones wrote that the image as Christian teenagers and role models was very implausible for three boys of the same age as the band members. There was also criticism of the song lyrics, which are very superficial and are therefore only suitable for children.
