Busted is a British boy band that first existed from 2000 to early 2005. At the end of 2015 they announced their comeback and will start their new tour in 2016. Their style can be described as “ pop - rock ” or “pop- punk ”.

Band history

A couple of years after graduation, Britons James Bourne and Matt Willis met at a gig in Southend-on-Sea . They soon realized how well they fit together musically and started making music together. After a while they started looking for a third member and shortly afterwards found Charlie Simpson, who finally made the band Busted complete. Simpson convinced her with his qualities as a singer, guitarist, pianist and drummer.

The first single What I Go to School For was released in September 2002 in Great Britain at number 3 in the single charts and was also very successful in Germany . With this song they provided the soundtrack to the German movie Fack ju Göhte from 2013. With the titles You Said No, Crashed the Wedding, Who's David and Thunderbirds , Busted had four number one hits in England in two years. Thunderbirds , the theme song for the film of the same name, was even named record of the year in the UK . Other well-known titles are Year 3000 and her cover version of Hurra, hurra, die Schule brennt, her greatest success in Germany with 19th place.

A Present for Everyone was the band's second studio album. Released in the UK on November 17, 2003, it peaked at number two on the Top 40 album charts and grossed over £ 1 million . The album includes the singles Crashed the Wedding , Who's David? , Air Hostess , 3AM and She Wants to Be Me .

Although they were among the most acclaimed boy bands in the UK, not all members of the trio agreed with the musical course. In January 2005 they announced their breakup because Simpson wanted to take care of his rock band project Fightstar in the future . After the separation, Bourne did not remain idle either and founded the band Son of Dork , whose debut single Ticket Outta Loserville - like What I Go to School For - reached number three in the UK charts.

Willis released his debut single Up All Night in May 2006 and his debut album Don't Let It Go to Waste in November of the same year . On May 7, 2006, he appeared again on Top of the Pops on British television for the first time in 16 months .

On November 10, 2015, the band announced their comeback, and announced 13 concerts for May 2016 with the original line-up.

On November 25, 2016, almost a year after their comeback, the band released their new album Night Driver.

On October 26, 2018, the band announced their fourth studio album, Half Way There. They also announced a UK tour for 2019.

On November 2, 2018, Nineties was the first single from the new album Half Way There.
