Fightstar is a British alternative - rock band .

Band formation

Alex Westaway and Dan Haigh met at school. There they played in different bands. Alex met Charlie, who was a member of the band Busted until early 2005 , at a party. They decided to make music together. Together with Dan's friend Omar Abidi, they founded Fightstar .

The name Fightstar is derived from Keanu Reeves' former band Dogstar and the film Fight Club (1999), of which Fightstar are big fans. Fightstar dedicated a song ( Palahniuk's Laughter ) to the author of the 1996 novel for the film Chuck Palahniuk , which can be found on the 2005 emocore EP They Liked You Better When You Were Dead .

Grand Unification

In the spring of 2006 the band's first album was released. The album is titled Grand Unification . Many songs from their EP They Liked You Better When You Were Dead were re-recorded for their debut album and are now available as new versions on Grand Unification .

Separation from Island Records

In autumn 2006 the band separated from their English label Island Records because of discrepancies. In February 2007, Fightstar joined Trustkill Records . In the meantime, Fightstar had offered their fans a new track called 99 online for free.

One Day Son, This Will All Be Yours

In the summer of 2007 the band finally released their second album One Day Son This Will All Be Yours in Great Britain and the single We apologize for nothing . In December 2007 the song Deathcar followed as a single with a limited edition. As with Paint your target and Waste a Moment, there is a censored and an uncensored version of the song .
