The Veronicas are an Australian singer and songwriter duo, consisting of the identical twins Lisa Marie and Jessica Louise Origliasso (born December 25, 1984 in Brisbane ).
history
The Origliasso family, consisting of the parents Colleen and Joseph as well as the daughters Lisa and Jessica and the son Julian, has Italian ancestors. The children were born in Brisbane and grew up in the suburb of Albany Creek there . Lisa and Jessica attended Wavell State High School . The two made their first experiences in show business at a young age. They made various appearances on some television shows.
They were discovered in 2004 by Sony BMG Music Entertainment / Reprise Records Sire Records and signed for $ 2 million. The two women write their songs for themselves and other artists. They wrote pieces like tATus All About Us and What's Going On? by Australian Idol winner Casey Donovan .
The debut album The Secret Life of ... , which was released in Australia on October 17, 2005, rose to number 7 and reached number 2 on the Australian charts and four times platinum status . In New Zealand the album reached number 7 on the charts. In the United States , it was released on Valentine's Day (V-Day) , February 14, 2006. Two singles reached # 1 in thehothits.com countdown, a popular Australian audience vote.
Her single 4ever was featured in Amanda Bynes ' She's the Man in March 2006 as a film score . used and served as the theme song.
In November 2007, The Veronicas released their second album, entitled Hook Me Up . The single release of the title track Hook Me Up reached number 1 on the Australian single charts. The album went double platinum (more than 140,000 copies sold). The album was produced by Greg Wells, who had worked with Mika, Timbaland and others. The song Untouched was chosen as the second single and reached number 2. The third single released is called This Love . The song Untouched was also introduced as the soundtrack for the computer game FIFA 09 .
The third album Life on Mars was originally supposed to be released by the end of 2012. But since they left Warner Bros shortly after the release of the first single Lolita in July 2012 and switched to an independent label, the official release date was postponed to the first quarter of 2014. On November 6th, they announced that they would not call the album Life on Mars , as expected , but You and Me . On November 21, 2014 the album was released under the title The Veronicas on the new label SONY Australia.
Origin of name
Her name comes from the Archie Comics character Veronica Lodge . After a lawsuit by the publisher for infringement of trademark rights, an out-of-court settlement was reached and a cross-promotion between the band and comics was agreed. In December 2005, issue 167 of Veronica was published as "The Veronicas" special issue with the twins on the cover. This issue contained a code to download the single 4ever for free .

- They had a guest appearance at Hotel Zack & Cody , where they played two singing girls. This was episode 65 part 2/2, in which Zack and Cody get a role in the filming of their lives at Tipton.
