occupation

Hanni & Nanni is a 2010 directed by Christine Hartmann resulting German Youth Film - Comedy . The film is based on Enid Blyton 's children's book series of the same name .

action

The identical twins Hanni and Nanni Sullivan have always been a challenge for their parents with their pranks. In order to prove to their conceited classmate Oktavia who is faster with a hockey stick and ball and who is the better player, Hanni organizes a wild chase in a luxury department store of all places . In fact, Hanni also breaks Oktavia's best time to date. However, the latter takes revenge by secretly disappearing a T-shirt in Hanni's pocket, which leads to the twins being wrongly accused of theft in a department store, which has the consequence that the girls are expelled from their beloved school.

The parents put Hanni and Nanni in the idyllic “Lindenhof” boarding school. The girls react differently to the new situation, the quieter Nanni soon makes her first friendships, the livelier Hanni has a harder time getting used to it. The two sisters experience a lot in the boarding school: pillow fights, mattress races, horse liberation and first successes for the otherwise constantly inferior Lindenhof hockey team.

Georg Sullivan, the twins 'father, has now succeeded in proving the innocence of his daughters using video surveillance installed in the department store, whereupon the twins' former school wants to resume them. While this turn of things arouses enthusiasm in Hanni, Nanni prefers to stay at the Lindenhof boarding school.

When a hockey game against her old team, the JoCats, comes up, Hanni has a difficult decision, but ultimately the bond with her former team wins and she decides to play for the JoCats. But when Hanni learns that her supposed friend Oktavia wanted to blame her for a theft, she changes her mind and now wants to play in the Lindenhof team. Nanni, who stood in for her sister on the Lindenhof hockey team, although she is not talented for hockey, is happy when Hanni shows up at half-time to take her place. Now she can still go to the music teacher Mademoiselle Bertoux to play her cello with the aim of being accepted into the Lindenhof school orchestra. In the hockey game, Lindenhof can prevail against the JoCats thanks to the decisive point scored by Hanni and win.

The financial difficulties that Lindenhof is in can also be overcome thanks to the efforts of Hanni and Nanni and with the help of their mother Jule, to which a fundraising campaign by former students of the boarding school also contributes, so that the continued existence of the institute is secured.

Reviews

“Mostly ... the staging relentlessly relies on gross motor skills and clunky slapstick, which may even suit the target group. [..] The Mannheim twins Sophia and Jana Münster in the leading roles are appealing figures of identification, but should alienate small viewers with their artificial language from over-the-top written German and youthful slang. It is also to be feared that children will also notice some blatant illogics. Why is the supposed theft not discovered earlier, and how does Nanni learn the cello so secretly and quickly? "

- Birgit Roschy - Stern

“ So the film Hanni & Nanni mainly focuses on volume, appearance and equipment. [..] The school uniform, for example - white blouse, white knee socks, pleated mini skirt - seems to have been tailor-made from a girls' manga, and the delicate white pajamas could have been photographed by the eroticist David Hamilton . [..] So much lack of willpower was not seen in German films for children and young people for a long time. "

- Katja Lüthge - Berliner Zeitung

“Beyond the adjustments to lifestyle fashions and technical progress, the film hardly deviates from the book. [..] Behind the facade, Hanni and Nanni is a conservative film - and that's exactly why it lives up to its original. Because if there is one thing you can learn from reading Blyton's books, it is the difference between the surface and the core: that in reality things are often different from what they appear. "

- Maren Keller - Spiegel Online

“The fact that many characters [..] are heavily overdrawn fits the rapid staging, in which some episodes could be expanded, but at the same time there is never boredom. Hanni & Nanni will mainly address a female audience briskly and uncomfortably . "

- Dorian Waller - The standard
