Hermann Florin

Hermann Florin (born March 5, 1961 in Recklinghausen ) is a German film producer and theater director .

Life

Hermann Florin is the producer and managing director of Feine Films and Florin Film.

From 1981 to 1982 he worked initially as an assistant director at the municipal theaters in Dortmund and then until 1991 as a director at various stages in Germany. During this time he realized more than 30 productions, most of them premieres. In the following years, Hermann Florin worked as a producer for Süddeutscher Rundfunk, UFA, NDF, Kinowelt, Studiocanal and as a freelance producer at home and abroad.

During this time, Hermann Florin produced nationally and internationally successful TV movies and series, as well as the award-winning feature films such as "The Mambospiel" and " Three Chinese with the Double Bass ".

After successfully acquiring the rights to film the successful children's book series “ Hanni and Nanni ” from Enid Blyton , Hermann Florin founded the Society for Fine Films in 2005 with TV producer Emmo Lempert in order to jointly develop this and other cinema projects and to develop and produce television. Hermann Florin has been the sole owner and managing director of Feine Films since 2013.

The Gesellschaft für Feine Films mbH in Cologne and Berlin produces commercial German-language cinema alone or with partners. Florin Film- und Fernsehproduktion GmbH & Co.KG focuses on international co-productions and story development. Benrae Florin Films Ltd. develops English-language cinema with Irish writers and directors. With his companies Feine Films and Florin Film, Hermann Conor McDermottroe's award-winning feature film debut “Swansong” and, together with UFA Fiction, the successful German film series “Hanni and Nanni 1–4”, based on the bestsellers by Enid Blyton. The four films in this series became box office hits on distribution from Universal Pictures and attracted over 3.5 million viewers to the cinemas.

" I'll be gone " (together with UFA Fiction) based on the bestseller by Hape Kerkeling reached more than 2 million viewers in cinemas in German-speaking countries on distribution by Warner Bros. In 2016, the culture clash comedy "Halal Daddy" by Mark O'Halloran and Conor McDermottroe was shot in the west of Ireland. The cinema release in Germany was in the summer of 2018. Feine Films and UFA Fiction will continue their successful collaboration in 2017 with the filming of two bestsellers. The Ruhr area comedy " So much time ", based on a cult novel by Frank Goosen , had its theatrical release in the fall of 2018. Hape Kerkeling's bestseller " The Boy Needs Fresh Air ", directed by Oscar winner Caroline Link , was released by Warner Bros. Germany at Christmas 2018 brought to German cinemas and advanced to the German blockbuster of the year with over 3.6 million viewers.

Florin is a member of the German and European Film Academy .
