Ariel Hernán Garcé (born July 14, 1979 in Tandil ), nickname El Chino (the Chinese), is a former Argentine football player .
Career
Ariel Garcé was born in 1979 in Tandil in the province of Buenos Aires and started playing football at the local Deportivo Santamarina . In his youth he moved from there to the renowned capital club CA River Plate . His first appearance in the first team in the Primera División was in 1999.
By 2002 he established himself as a regular on the right side of defense and celebrated his third championship title in River's squad by winning the Clausura this year . The success was followed by the appointment to the Argentine national soccer team , where he played two friendly matches in early 2003. After that, however, there were no further deployments. At the same time he was in the Apertura on loan to Mexico to the Monarcas Morelia , but after six months abroad Garcé returned to River Plate. Once again he won a championship title with the club before leaving Buenos Aires in late 2004.
He then played for half a year each for Club Atlético Colón from Santa Fe and Club Olimpo from Bahía Blanca . There his career suffered a severe setback when he tested positive for cocaine and was banned for six months in 2006.
But at Rosario Central , where he played for a year after the suspension, he was able to establish himself again in the Argentine first division. Since mid-2007 he played again for Colón . There he showed consistently good performances again, so that Ariel Garcé could celebrate his return to the national team in 2010 at the age of 30. At first he was only called up for a friendly match, then, surprisingly, national coach Diego Maradona even included him in Argentina's squad for the 2010 World Cup in South Africa . In 2012 he moved to the Argentinos Juniors and in 2013 to Atlético de Rafaela , where he ended his career in 2014.
