Kurt Jeschko

Kurt Jeschko (born August 19, 1919 in Linz , † June 7, 1973 in Vienna ) was an Austrian sports journalist and television presenter.

Jeschko grew up in Wels . In 1940 he lost his left arm as a first lieutenant in the Wehrmacht . He then studied history, German and philosophy, but at the same time worked as a sports journalist. After 1945 he was first secretary of the Vienna Racing Club and judge of the Freudenau horse racing track . In 1961 he received his doctorate with a thesis on Eugen Megerle of Mühlfeld Dr. phil.

Jeschko worked as a journalist for the broadcasting group Rot-Weiß-Rot , for the newspaper Die Presse and, from 1958, for Austrian television , where he was promoted to chief commentator in 1967 . Compared to the enthusiastic Heribert Meisel , he embodied the more reserved reporter type. Jeschko also wrote a number of sports books between 1956 and 1972.

Kurt Jeschko died of a heart attack at the age of 54.

His grave is in the urn cemetery of the Simmering fire hall (Department 3 / Ring 2 / Group 7 / Number 1).
