Wolf Bauer (* 1950 in Stuttgart ) is a German film and television producer. Wolf Bauer studied journalism and art history in Munich and Berlin.

Career

He first worked in 1976 as a writer of political magazine articles for the ZDF program registration D . In 1980 Wolf Bauer joined UFA Film- und Fernsehproduktion as an editor and producer and has been a producer and chairman of the management board since 1991. Since FremantleMedia was founded in 2000, he has been on the production company's operating board. FremantleMedia is the international production arm of the RTL Group , to which UFA also belongs.

As head of UFA In 1991, Wolf Bauer, together with the Australian Reginald Roy Grundy the Grundy UFA . In 1998 he founded teamWorx with Nico Hofmann and Ariane Krampe, which established itself with the production of television films and fiction programs. Most recently, in spring 2008, he founded UFA Cinema together with Thomas Peter Friedl , Nico Hofmann and Jürgen Schuster , which he heads as a member of the management team and producer.

From 2001 to 2007 Wolf Bauer was on the board of directors of film20 - the film production interest group . Also since 2001 he has been a member of the Advisory Board East of Deutsche Bank and Chairman of the Advisory Board of the Erich Pommer Institute. Wolf Bauer has been a member of the Bertelsmann Stiftung's Board of Trustees and the Board of Directors of the Alliance of German Producers - Film & Television since 2008 .

From September 1, 2015 to September 1, 2017, Wolf Bauer shared the management of UFA GmbH with Nico Hofmann.

Act as a producer

Wolf Bauer has produced over 80 television films since 1980, including " The Snob " (ZDF, 1983, director: Wolfgang Staudte), "Das Haus am Watt" (ZDF, 1989, director: Sigi Rothemund), " Katharina the Great " (1994, ZDF, director: Marvin Chomsky) with Catherine Zeta-Jones in the title role, " The Mall " (1997, director: Norberto Barba) and episodes from such successful series as "An unforgettable weekend in ..." or the film adaptations of stories by Rosamunde Pilcher . Wolf Bauer also produced eight feature films, including " The Sniffer " (1982), "Didi - The Double" (1983), " Didi and the Revenge of the Disinherited " (1984), "The Expert" (1988).

Wolf Bauer is responsible for the start of over 20 series production. These include weekly series for public broadcasters such as " Detective Office Roth " (1983, WWF), " The Subtenant " (1983/1984, ZDF), " Berliner Weisse mit Schuss " (1984, ZDF) and " Der Mioerbe " (1989, ZDF), both with Gunther Pfitzmann, or one of the first sitcoms on German television “Die liebe Verwalten” (1989, WDR) and the first real weekly “ Hinter Gittern - Der Frauenknast ” (1997, RTL). But also daily series such as " Gute Zeiten, Bad Zeiten " (since 1992, RTL), " Unter Uns " (since 1994, RTL), " Verbotene Liebe " (since 1994, ARD) and the telenovelas " Bianca - Ways to Happiness " (2004, ZDF) and “ Verliebt in Berlin ” (2005, Sat.1) were created under his leadership.

Wolf Bauer produces “ Der Medicus ”, “ Glennkill ” and “Vaterland” for UFA Cinema . He also appears as an executive producer .
