action

Moritz loves football more than anything else in the world, and his club SV Hulstorf, in whose youth team he plays and is coached by his father, is his one and only. In the cup final of the Rhein-Litte tournament (tournament with 16 teams and knockout system) against VfB Epplaken, he dreams of a game in a large stadium with football stars, through this dream he misses one last chance to score for his team to save in extra time , so they lose the game 1: 2. After the game, almost the entire team, especially his friend Felix, is mad at him.

When Moritz's mother (who has already promised several times to be at a game, but always comes too late or not at all because she organizes weddings ) wants to pick him up and his father after the game, it comes to a scandal: Moritz and his mother find his father in the coaching room where he is making out with the club's secretary. Moritz's mother immediately moves out of the common house and takes her son with her to her father Rudi in Epplaken, where she has hardly been seen before.

Rudi, who has grown a bit grumpy over the years, does not react particularly pleased about the visit, and Moritz in particular is devastated: He is no longer in a team and can therefore no longer pursue his passion for football and has to go to a new school strangers go and finds accommodation with Grandpa Rudi in his mother's former nursery.

Grandpa Rudi tries to get Moritz admitted to the only club in town, of all people, VfB Epplaken, trained by Rothkirch, whose captain and goalkeeper Mark was injured in the nose by Moritz during his dreamy goal attempt and who now has to wear a nose cast. Moritz is only shot at with balls there, recording is out of the question.

At school, Moritz makes new friends who also have a talent for football. There, too, he meets Mark and his teammates, whom Moritz's friends also hate. Without further ado he started an association with Mehmet, Catrina, Niko and Enes. They find a home in the old Peter Neuenfels Stadium, which has now become very wild, something Moritz's friends are also rather skeptical about . When cleaning up, there is the old stadium sign, from which letters fall away, in the end it says Teufels Stadion. In order to be able to participate in the new tournament, the team is strengthening itself with the rooftop kids under leader Alex, who also want to play football in a team. Moritz's friends, especially Mehmet, are initially not enthusiastic about it, but can quickly make friends with them. Enes reluctantly has to take the position of manager as it only requires 11 players on the court.

Inspired by the new name of the stadium, the team is called Teufelskicker, and Moritz registers them for the new tournament in the town hall. Since a trainer is required to register, who also has to fill out the forms, Moritz secretly enters Grandpa Rudi as his trainer and states that he has an illness called Enes (since Enes is spinning around with the others in front of the town hall window, Moritz accidentally gives his Names as illness) is in bed. To get into the tournament, the Teufelskicker have to play two qualifying games. In the first qualification game, the team trained by Moritz goes down against the reigning cup winner VfB Epplaken with a desperate 0:12 performance. After that, the team will have to accept that their old stadium will have to give way to a new hotel. Meanwhile, Moritz's father tries to get his wife back with the help of his friend Flo, but she does not give in and is desperate of rejections while looking for a new job.

There are still problems with the Teufelskicker: Catrina is initially hard to talk about that the Teufelskicker want to triumph against Mark and VfB in particular. Moritz initially suspects that she is in love with Mark, but it turns out that Mark is her new stepbrother and Rothkirch, whom her mother has married, is her stepfather. Moritz finds a solution to the stadium problem: Grandpa Rudi works as a night watchman at Rothkirch in a department store. Grandpa Rudi and Rothkirch used to play in a team, but Rudi doesn't want to know anything about that. Since the department store is also suitable for football training and Rudi often nods off during his shift, Moritz steals Rudi's replacement code card and sneaks past Rudi's post into the department store with his team. They blow up quickly, however, Grandpa Rudi is initially annoyed, but then takes on his coaching role, which he has since learned about, which everyone is quite surprised. The Teufelskicker train at night in the department store and win the second qualifying game against FC Wolperat (the worst team in the region) 1-0. As a bonus, Grandpa Rudi donates jerseys for this game, which the team wears from then on. The team did well in the tournament, winning the round of 16 against TuS Keppel 1-0 and the quarter-finals against BV Brakem 3-2.

In the semifinals there will be another clash with VfB. Grandpa Rudi is fired from Rothkirch before the game so that Rudi, according to Rothkirch, has more time for his team. The two teams meet in the department store and fight for Moritz's ball, which his father brought him, while holding the ball. The Teufelskicker can hold the ball for the agreed time and Moritz is allowed to keep the ball. Meanwhile, the teams provide something to talk about, as the game shifts to the street in front of the department store. After that, Enes causes a drama: He praises Alex for his talent, but at the same time asks him about an old story that was being told, namely why he killed his little brother. Alex runs away. Moritz can talk to him and Alex says that he had to go to a soccer game (he played for VfB) and that he left his brother in the apartment, whom he had to take care of. When he returned, the police were standing in front of the house and his brother had died from an electric shock. So it was a fatal accident, it didn't kill him. Moritz encourages him, but for the time being he no longer plays in the Teufelskickern. Grandpa Rudi will soon get the news and is not very enthusiastic about it before the semi-final game. Enes has to step in to replace Alex. The Teufelskicker lose the semi-finals 0-1, but that is mainly due to the fact that Rothkirch bribed the referee in advance to prevent a possible defeat of his VfB. The referee now whistled almost every situation against the Teufelskicker.

While the Teufelskicker split up, the situation for Moritz's mother becomes more and more hopeless: She still can't find a job, she still doesn't want to meet her husband and Moritz also dumps his frustration over the entire situation with her. Meanwhile, Ms. Rothkirch is convinced that her daughter can play football well. Since Catrina is bored alone at a table at a family celebration after the team has broken up, Ms. Rothkirch tries to persuade her husband to accept Catrina into his club, but Rothkirch vehemently refuses. This is the drop that brings the barrel to overflow with Ms. Rothkirch: She calls the association to report the bribe of her husband and even threatens her husband with a divorce. The news causes Moritz's father to make one last attempt to get his wife back: he shouts to her in front of the house late in the evening that Rothkirch has bribed the referee, Moritz's team is therefore in the final and she, if she has a future for both of them looks together to appear at the grand finale. If not, he wants to deal with the divorce. Moritz now rounds up his team in the middle of the night, first he seeks out Catrina, with whom Mark wants to prevent her from climbing out of the window. He is now without a nose cast again and wants to fight Moritz, who hits him on the nose, so that he gets a nose cast again.

Grandpa Rudi creates another problem: he gets drunk in a pub at night and is hit by a vehicle on the way home and ends up in the hospital. There the Teufelskicker met Moritz's mother in the morning on the day of the finale, to whom Moritz apologized for his frustration from the previous evening. Now Grandpa Rudi also learns that his team is in the final. But since he can't go to Hulstorf as a trainer, Moritz's mother has to take over this job. There she meets her husband, who is initially relieved, but at the same time a bit shocked when he hears that she is taking on the role of coach.

Before the game, Alex appears again, who, encouraged by his father, plays again. Grandpa Rudi and Moritz 'mother are connected to each other via mobile phone so that she can pass on Rudi's instructions to play. First of all, he determines that the team will have a captain for the first time in history with Moritz. In the course of the first half it became more and more apparent that Moritz 'mother had no idea about football. So she sometimes passes on the instructions incorrectly, and the cell phone connection is not particularly good. The Teufelskicker are 2-0 down at halftime. After the break, Moritz's mother gives the right advice with cooking instructions, which Moritz has to translate for his team. The referee and Moritz's father are a bit confused by the cooking terms used in football. The Teufelskicker managed to turn the game around in the end and win 3: 2 and with it the tournament and the cup.

The victory is celebrated, Rothkirch junior and senior, who also watched, are anything but enthusiastic, but Ms. Rothkirch is happy about her daughter. Moritz and Felix, who fell out at the beginning, become friends again. Moritz's parents are reconciled and the family is happy again. Catrina thanks Moritz and in the end Enes finds out that his name has spread as a name for an illness.

continuation

A sequel was planned, so a casting was started in May 2010 to look for a girls' team. Granz Henman stated in an interview that a second part was being planned. There is even an article in the Internet Movie Database. ( Teufelskicker 2 in the Internet Movie Database )

) The casting has been completed, but according to a report by Cosima Henman, the shooting will apparently not take place, and it is still very unlikely that the film will be made.

Reviews

Kino.de writes: "Humor is the trump card in this refreshingly contemporary comedy adventure by" Harte Jungs "maker Granz Henman, who adapted the bestsellers by Frauke Nahrgang."

According to Robert Zimmermann, “from a mercantile point of view, it was only logical to bring out the film for the book in the year of the soccer World Cup”. There are, however, gags in the film that are apparently intended for parents, but are not enjoyable and incomprehensible for children. Others find that too many subjects have been mixed into the film.

The German Film and Media Evaluation FBW in Wiesbaden awarded the film the title valuable.
