The Alliance of German Producers - Film & Television eV , or Producer Alliance for short , is the largest association of film and television producers in Germany with its headquarters in Berlin and a representative in Munich . The managing director of the registered association is Christoph Palmer .

The producers' alliance is divided into the sections cinema (producers of cinema films), television (producers of fictional television films and series), entertainment (producers of reality and show formats), animation (producers of animated films and series), advertising (producers of Advertising films) and documentation (producers of documentary films).

history

The association became active with the founding general meeting on March 3, 2008. It emerged from the producer associations of the Federal Association of German Television Producers, film20 and AGEP (Association of German Entertainment Producers). In June 2008, the New German Feature Film Producers Working Group (AG Spielfilm) decided to join forces with the producer alliance. In spring 2009, the animation producers previously organized in the Association of German Animation Producers (VdAP) joined them. On April 1, 2010, the Association of German Post and Advertising Film Productions (VDW) also decided to join. The Documentation section was founded on September 14, 2011 by the Board of Directors as a whole.

The statutes of the association stipulate as a prerequisite for admission as a full member “that the member is active as an active company with its registered office or branch in the Federal Republic of Germany in the field of audiovisual productions.” Sponsorship and honorary memberships are also possible. In May 2017 the association had around 250 members.

The chairman of the board is Alexander Thies (NFP neue filmproduktion, Berlin), the deputy board members are Uli Aselmann (die film gmbh, Munich), Dagmar Biller (Tangram International GmbH, Munich), Jan Bonath (scopas medien AG, Berlin), Markus Schäfer ( All3Media , Munich) and Martin Wolff (Wolff Brothers GmbH, Munich).

According to the statutes, the purpose of the association is, among other things, to advocate an improvement in the framework conditions for the production of film and television works as well as other audiovisual works, to strengthen the legal position of the producers of audiovisual works, the interests of the producers of audiovisual works in To represent the public, to legislators, government agencies and other public bodies and professional associations and to negotiate the conclusion of collective agreements.

In May 2018, the association took part in the establishment of the Themis trust center against sexual harassment and violence .

The Carl Laemmle Producer Award was launched on the 150th birthday of the film pioneer and inventor of Hollywood Carl Laemmle in 2017 through the producer alliance together with the Carl Laemmle hometown of Laupheim . As the first independent German producer award, the Carl Laemmle Producer Award annually honors the life's work of an outstanding producer personality and at the same time generally highlights the special achievements of the producers in the creative and economic process of filmmaking in a special way. At the start in 2017, Roland Emmerich was awarded the first Carl Laemmle Producer Award, followed in the second year by Regina Ziegler . In the same year Artur Brauner was honored on the occasion of his 100th birthday with the special prize of the jury - the Carl Laemmle Prize of Honor. In 2019 Stefan Arndt was awarded the Carl Laemmle Producer Award for his life's work to date.
