The Million Heir is a family series with Günter Pfitzmann in the lead role, which was broadcast for the first time in March 1990 in four episodes and to which a further eight episodes were added in 1992 and 1993, similar to Der Havelkaiser .

Johannes Redlich learns that he has inherited $ 2.5 million from his rich aunt Katharina in Miami . Thereupon he can no longer be stopped and travels the wide world, first he travels to Berlin , where he decides to support an unsuccessful painter. Little does Johannes know that his aunt has in the meantime disinherited him and instead bequeathed her inheritance to an Indian reservation. He then goes on a cruise to the Caribbean on a luxury cruiser . There he met Irene Rimbach, she is the daughter of the rich jewelry dealer Ludwig Rimbach. The two get closer and eventually get married. In the last few episodes, the couple moves to Hamburg to take over the Rimbachs' jewelry store. When five valuable diamonds disappear from the jewelry store, Johannes Redlich goes on a search to get them back.
