Grammy Awards 2009
On February 8, 2009, the 2009 Grammy Awards were presented at the Staples Center in Los Angeles . It was the 51st award of the Grammy , the most important US music award. At the beginning of 2009 the musical achievements that were published between October 1, 2007 and September 30, 2008 were recognized.
The most successful artists were Robert Plant and Alison Krauss , who were able to win a total of five awards with their joint rock / country project Raising Sand , including in the two main categories album and single of the year. Rapper Lil Wayne , who was nominated for seven Grammys, won four of the five possible rap Grammys. The British band Coldplay , another favorite with seven nominations, received three awards and, in the opinion of the jury, named Viva la Vida as the song of the year.
