Michael Gandolfi
Michael James Gandolfi (born July 5, 1956 in Melrose (Massachusetts) ) is an American composer and music professor at the New England Conservatory of Music (NEC).
Life
Gandolfi first studied at Berklee College of Music and then went to the NEC, where he finally graduated with a Masters. In 1986 he studied at Tanglewood Music Center with Oliver Knussen and Leonard Bernstein . He has taught at Harvard University , Indiana University, and Phillips Academy . In 1997 he was appointed coordinator of the composition department at Tanglewood Music Center. His The Garden of Cosmic Speculation was inspired by the Scottish park of the same name and received a Grammy nomination in 2009 . Gandolfi also wrote pieces of music for children. His works were u. a. fromBoston Symphony Orchestra , Houston Symphony Orchestra , BBC Scottish Symphony Orchestra . He is a member of the American Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers . Gandolfi lives in Cambridge, Massachusetts .
