Casting Crowns is a Christian soft rock band from the United States .
history
The band was founded in 2003 by youth pastor Mark Hall in Atlanta . The band plays regularly at Eagle's Landing First Baptist Church in McDonough, Georgia. Her first two albums, Casting Crowns and Lifesong , achieved platinum status in the US , as did their two live albums Live in Alabama and Lifesong Live . The next album, The Altar and the Door , reached number 2 on the Billboard 200, its highest chart position to date, and was awarded gold , as was studio album number 4, Peace on Earth (2008) .
In 2006 they received a Grammy for Lifesong in the category “Best Contemporary Pop-Gospel Album”. In 2007 they won the “Contemporary Inspirational Artist of the Year” award at the American Music Awards. In the same year they received awards as "Band of the Year" and for "Song of the Year - Contemporary Pop Music" at the GMA Dove Awards .
