Daniel "Dan" Tyminski (* 20th June 1967 in Rutland , Vermont ) is an American bluegrass - musicians ( vocals , mandolin and guitar ).

Career

Tyminski became known as a member of the band Union Station , which has recorded numerous albums since 1994 together with bluegrass singer Alison Krauss . His solo projects include three albums so far, Carry Me Across the Mountain (2000), Wheels (2008) and Southern Gothic (2017). He only released his third album as Tyminski and has only used his last name at concerts and performances ever since. While the first two albums were recorded exclusively with acoustic instruments and are pure bluegrass albums, digitally generated sounds and effects are increasingly used in Southern Gothic . Melodically and harmonically, his third album is more oriented towards contemporary pop than bluegrass.

In 2013, he achieved great fame when he sang the song Hey Brother by Swedish DJ Avicii from his album True . Hey Brother reached number 1 on the singles charts in numerous countries, including Germany, Austria and Sweden.

For his musical activity he has now won numerous Grammys , including his version of Man of Constant Sorrow , known from the film O Brother, Where Art Thou? - A Mississippi Odyssey in which he also lends his voice to the actor George Clooney when he sings in the film.
