They Might Be Giants (often abbreviated as TMBG ) is a US-based alternative - band consisting of the duo John Flansburgh and John Linnell , also known as the two Johns and John and John .

Career

The band was formed in 1982 in the Brooklyn neighborhood of New York and named after the Anthony Harvey film of the same name . They achieved notoriety through their answering machine campaign “Dial a Song”. To do this, they played their songs on an answering machine, where they could be heard by phone. They Might Be Giants later became the first major band to release their songs on MP3.

TMBG are best known for their songs Don't Let's Start from the album They Might Be Giants , Ana Ng from the album Lincoln and Birdhouse in Your Soul from the album Flood . In Europe they are best known for the theme song from the TV series Malcolm in the middle , Boss of Me , for which the band also received a Grammy in 2002 . TMBG titles were occasionally used in cartoon series like Tiny Toons or The Simpsons . In 2011/2012, the intro of the piece No One Knows My Plan from the album John Henry was the theme song for the program Die Kaya-Show with Kaya Yanar on RTL .

A rockumentary of the band ran in 2002 under the title Gigantic in American cinemas .
